The Decatur Civic Chorus (aka DCC) performs two concerts a year.
Our annual Christmas concert features a mix of secular holiday music along with traditional Christmas music and hymns.
Each Spring Concert has a different theme. These concerts typically feature a variety of music—some secular, some spiritual—from classical to modern.

The Decatur Civic Chorus is dedicated to promoting and supporting our local Decatur community. We’re spotlighting two organizations at our annual spring concert.
Help DCC fight hunger and support neighbors in need! Our spring concert is also a food drive for PORCH-Decatur. On your next shopping trip, pick up a few extra items and bring them to the concert. PORCH-Decatur will be at the concert to collect donations of nonperishable, unexpired food items (no glass) and personal care items. Canned meats, beans, fruits and veggies are especially helpful.

Our 3:30 opening act features a musical performance by members of the Frank Hamilton School, located in Decatur’s Legacy Park complex. The Frank Hamilton School is “a place where people of all ages can come together to share, learn, and celebrate music.”

Kick off your holiday season with our annual Christmas concert featuring a mix of traditional and modern songs…including Christmas Pops Trio, Mary’s Baby, Theme from Elf, He is Born and a jazzy version of Deck the Halls.
3rd Saturday each October
In 2023 we added a new event to our lineup: World Singing Day. This is a fun, casual sing-along event where the audience sings with the chorus. Each year on the 3rd Saturday in October, people all over the world gather in groups of all sizes in schools, pubs, parks, plazas and homes to sing and celebrate our common humanity.

Decatur Civic Chorus is hosting a community sing-along in celebration of World Singing Day. It’s a global event held every year on the 3rd Saturday in October. It serves as an opportunity to celebrate our global family through the international language of music.
This year, the theme song is a mashup of “We Are the World” by USA for Africa and “Imagine” by John Lennon. The global theme for 2024 is mental health. Licensed Professional Counselor, Claudia Calderon, will share insight on the importance of caring for mental health and provide information on available resources in the community.
The event is open to everyone, regardless of musical ability, and is designed to be a joyful community experience. Song sheets will be provided, so all can participate.
Bring a lawn chair and join in the fun of this sing-along, which will last about an hour.

Our 75th Anniversary concert will feature a wide variety of music from “Psalm 23” and “Agnus Dei” to “All That Jazz” and Adele’s smash hit “Rolling in the Deep,” with a dash of patriotic songs to keep things interesting.

Our concerts take place at the First Baptist Church in Decatur. There is free parking in the lot or parking deck.
The upper deck is accessible from Commerce Drive. The lower deck is accessible from Clairmont via the driveway just south of the church sanctuary.

Handicapped parking is available in the lot near the porte cochere. Just follow the sidewalk to the sanctuary facing Clairmont. There’s a wheelchair ramp beside the exterior steps to the sanctuary.
